STABILITY

Stability is one of the main concerns for anyone venturing into the world of watersports, and the Pioneer Pro Hybrid SUP Kayak Inflatable Paddle Board has got you covered with its three-size options.
At merely 195 lbs., the 9’6” model is designed with petite paddlers and beginners in mind. Its shorter length and slightly pointed, squared-off tail provides a stable platform that’s easy to maneuver. The combination of its shape and rigidity ensures that you’ll feel secure and confident on the water, even in mild chop or when encountering boat wakes. And since its width remains consistent throughout the design, you can try fishing or practice some mindful yoga poses without worrying about diving headfirst into the water.
Moving on to the 10’6″ model, the shape and dimensions of the board play a significant role in its stability. With minimal taper at the two ends, this size offers a balanced and stable ride. The company has incorporated InfinityFiber stringers onto the top, bottom, and sides of the board, enhancing its rigidity. While it still has some flex, it won’t dip below the waterline, ensuring a smooth and stable ride.
For larger paddlers or those seeking maximum stability, the 11’6″ model is the way to go. Its wide profile, extending from the nose to the tail, offers unparalleled stability and support. The square tail design adds even more surface area, allowing the board to maintain its composure in a variety of water conditions. Isle’s patent-pending InfinityFiber™ stringers play a crucial role in reducing bounces and rebounds, so you won’t have to worry about board flipping over.
The 11’6″ model’s impressive stability is further enhanced by its increased weight capacity of 450 lbs., making it an ideal choice for heavier riders or those who want to bring along extra gear without sacrificing performance.

SPEED TEST

Generally, the longer the waterline, the faster a paddleboard can glide through the water. While we didn’t have high expectations for the 9’6″ model in terms of speed, we were eager to see how all three sizes would perform.
To our surprise, all three Pioneer Pro Hybrid SUP Kayak Inflatable Paddle Boards performed admirably in our sprint test. During the test, we paddled hard for 10-15 seconds and then maintained a pace of 40-45 strokes per minute for 30-60 seconds to check if these boards would be able to keep up with our demands or even save us from potential shark attacks.
The results were quite impressive. While the 10’6″ model did create some drag due to its squared-off tail, it still managed to maintain an average cruising speed of 3.7 MPH. This makes it a solid option for paddlers who plan to use their boards primarily for touring and exploring the coastlines.
As for the 11’6″ model, while the length should theoretically contribute to its speed, the width can get in our way while paddling. Despite this, it still managed to achieve a respectable cruising speed of 5.3 mph, making it a viable option for those who prioritize stability but still want a decent pace on the water.

TRACKING & MANEUVERABILITY

Weighing just 20 lbs., the 9’6″ model is hyper maneuverable, so it might be difficult to maintain a straight course when tackling sudden waves and going against the wind. We know that tracking mostly depends on the paddler’s movements and technique.
So instead of getting annoyed with this board, we applied vertical strokes while paddling that saved us from zigzagging across the water. Its 9″ touring fin also plays a crucial role in maintaining good tracking, allowing the board to hold a straight line with minimal effort.
The 10’6″ model also had the same 9″ touring fin, so we didn’t have any issues with tracking. Its longer length and consistent width made it even easier to maintain a straight course.
With its 36″ width, the 11’6″ model required a bit more effort to maintain a straight line, especially for shorter paddlers who may struggle to reach over the edge of the board. However, with a little practice, we were able to overcome this issue and enjoy our ride. And with the included fin in the center, we were able to catch waves or just take in the scenery on flatwater.

Maneuverability

When buying a SUP kayak, it’s essential to consider how easy it is to perform turns, navigate tight spaces, and dodge obstacles. After all, what’s the point of getting a SUP if you can’t maneuver it to perform your favorite tricks?
Among the three sizes, the Isle 9’6″ Pioneer Pro SUP Kayak was our favorite when it came to maneuverability. With this board, we only needed 3.5 back-sweep strokes to make a full donut turn. It’s also a very lightweight board (only 20 lbs), which adds to its ability to move swiftly. And if you’re just learning the basics of stand-up paddleboarding, this model makes it easy to practice turns. By applying just a little pressure on the tail, you can easily sink it and do a step-back turn that’ll help you get a feel for the board.
Talking about the 10’6″ model, it was quite maneuverable, allowing us to dodge sharp rocks, floating debris, and other obstacles that might get in the way. As a bonus, the super stability of this board makes it easy to walk back towards the tail without losing your balance. So, if you plan on exploring different water environments or trying out SUP yoga, you can easily move forward to the nose or step back to the tail as needed.
As for the 11’6″ model, it only took 6 forward sweep strokes to turn 360 degrees. While it did disappoint us a bit in terms of maneuverability compared to the smaller sizes, it makes up for it in stability and versatility. You can take it out on the water to catch some prized fish, embark on a SUP camping adventure, or simply enjoy a leisurely paddle with friends and family without worrying about it popping or sinking midway.

CONSTRUCTION QUALITY

Isle has coined the term “Powerfusion” to describe their innovative construction process, which combines the best of the best to create a board that’s not only durable but also lightweight and high-performing.
The Airtech Prolite construction combined with the InfinityFiber™ stringer system increases the board’s rigidity and stiffness. Unlike other inflatable boards, this one features cross-woven drop-stitch construction and heat-welded seams, so you won’t have to worry about it popping or snapping with a sudden hit.
The PVC outer shell adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring your board stays in tip-top shape through all your paddling escapades. And if that wasn’t enough, Isle went above and beyond by adding fiber-reinforced thermoplastic strips, which are glued onto the top, bottom, and sides of the board. This secret weapon not only provides added durability but also enhances the board’s overall performance on the water.

FEATURES

While Isle Pioneer Pro Hybrid SUP Kayak Inflatable Paddle Board already boasts top-notch construction quality and maneuverability, it’s the small features that can make a big difference in your overall experience. Let’s dive into these amazing features that set these boards apart from the rest!

First up is the Isle Link System, which is basically a series of molly loops that run up and down the board. With Isle’s thick and flat bungee cords, you can make the most of this system by loading up on accessories, strapping down your beverage cooler, or simply securing your fishing essentials for a worry-free adventure. Plus, the removable molly loops give you the flexibility to customize your board to your heart’s content!

The Isle-Link system also helps you attach the kayak conversion kit. Simply attach the kayak seat and footrest to the molly loops, and within 5 minutes, you’ll have a fully functional kayak ready to explore the waters in a whole new way!

This incredible board also features two carrying handles for easy transport, as well as an integrated accessory mount on the nose, perfect for attaching your action camera or other gadgets to capture those unforgettable moments on the water. There are even velcro straps at the side that allows you to attach your paddles when not in use.

The deck pad is comfortable and durable, ensuring that you won’t lose your footing while performing the most challenging yoga poses or navigating through choppy waters. However, we wished it had diamond grooves for that extra grip, but overall, the deck pad still provides excellent traction and support.

INCLUDED ACCESSORIES

The Isle Pioneer Pro Hybrid SUP Kayak Inflatable Paddle Boards come with a fantastic set of included accessories that adds to the overall paddleboarding experience.

These inflatable SUP kayaks come with a rigid touring fin that offers exceptional directional control. The fin has a click-n-go system that makes attaching and detaching the fin a breeze, so you won’t have to fumble with power tools or complicated instructions.

The board comes with a 9′ straight leash, which sets it apart from most inflatable paddle boards that usually include coiled leashes. This leash helps keep you safe during those unexpected wipeouts, ensuring you won’t lose your board or struggle to get back on track. Plus, the straight design minimizes drag, making your paddling experience smoother and more efficient.

These boards also come with a spacious backpack that can be used to carry everything from your deflated board to your paddle and all the other essentials. With well-padded straps and a waist belt, the backpack evenly distributes weight, making it comfortable to carry on your adventures.

But what about those times when you don’t feel like carrying anything but still need to transport your gear? Well, this backpack has you covered with its built-in wheels! Just drag it to your car, then to your favorite paddling spot, and you’re all set for an amazing day on the water. It’s a convenience at its finest!
